Seal Viewing Platform

In 2013 the Rottnest Foundation received a grant from Lotterywest to support planning and fund engineering drawings for the Cathedral Rocks Seal Viewing Platform and a trail link from the platform to the Ngank Wen Bidi section of the Wadjemup Bidi Trail Walk.

Rottnest Island is home to a colony of fur seals, which draw visitors to the West End of the island. Building the platform and connecting trail link ensures the safety of all visitors and minimises the impact of foot traffic to the fragile natural environment, preventing erosion and the disturbance of the wildlife.
