Nerreda Hillier joins the Rottnest Foundation Board
The Rottnest Foundation is excited to announce the appointment of Nerreda Hillier as a new Board Member.
Nerreda specialises in social investment and community engagement, working to build meaningful relationships and create positive lasting impacts on communities. She is currently working with Rio Tinto Iron Ore, as Principal, Social Investment, where she collaborates with communities to identify partnership opportunities to deliver long-term benefits. Nerreda is also an experienced Board and Committee member, having served on a range of school, sporting and community boards, including the World Heritage Ningaloo Advisory Committee.
Before transitioning into the social investment and community engagement space, Nerreda spent many years in the tourism industry, which instilled in her a strong appreciation for the importance of place, culture and authentic experience in shaping how people connect to destinations and each other. Nerreda’s experience and knowledge will be a great asset to the Rottnest Foundation Board as we continue to develop strategies to fund our 5 Priority Projects and our other initiatives to 'Conserve the essence of Wadjemup'.
Of her appointment to the Board, Nerreda has said, ‘As a proud West Australian, Rottnest Island has always held a special place in my life — from childhood adventures to family traditions that continue today. Joining the Foundation is a meaningful opportunity to give back to the Island that has given me so much. I look forward to supporting conservation projects that protect this unique environment, ensuring future generations can experience the same joy and wonder that Rottnest has brought to mine.’
