Containers for Change

Since 2021 the Rottnest Foundation has worked in partnership with Containers for Change and the WA Scout Association to collect recyclables from Rottnest Island and return them to the mainland for sorting and recycling.

In 2025 we were excited to add Containers for Change bins to many new Rottnest Island businesses including The Lodge Wadjemup, Pelicans, The Lane, Simmos, Havza, Rottnest Island Movies and Mini Golf, Lexi’s and Kalli’s.  We are also thrilled to have Discovery Resorts – Rottnest Island come on board, with bins being placed inside each tent for guests to utilise.

To date more than 135,000 containers have been saved from landfill and more than $10,000 has been raised for the Rottnest Foundation to support our conservation work. 

This is part of a staged roll-out and we are working to partner with more Rottnest Island businesses in the future.
