The Rottnest Foundation Annual General Meeting was held on Rottnest Island, Sunday 16th of October 2016.
It began with a formal meeting, where the Chairman Jeff King delivered his report for the year, followed by the Treasurer’s Report and nominations to the Board of Management. There are no new nominations to the Board this year.
To end the formal proceedings, Jeff King thanked Courtney Wheatley who has been a Board Member of the Rottnest Foundation since 2002, during which time he has been Acting Treasurer, Treasurer and Secretary. Courtney has made significant financial contributions to the Foundation over a long period of time, undertaken extensive environmental monitoring of the fauna and flora of the Island (including observation of osprey breeding, and frogs and reptile population studies) and was also a Rottnest Island Voluntary Guide for approx. 10 years.
Jeff honored Courtney with an inaugural life membership certificate, to thank him on behalf of the Rottnest Foundation for his passion and dedication to the Island and our organisational objectives.
Jeff King also presented Pauline Casey with a Certificate of Appreciation, recognising the contribution made to the Australian community by Pauline as the valued Treasurer of the Rottnest Foundation, as part of the Commonwealth Bank Not-for Profit Treasurer Awards in partnership with Our Community.
After the formal proceedings Foundation attendees sat and enjoyed lunch together before walking to the Rottnest Nursery, where the RIA Environmental Operations Coordinator, Luke Wheat, gave an educational talk about the nursery, how it operates from the collection of seed to the eventual planting of the seedlings. Thank you to Luke for his time on the day and for providing our group with a wealth of information.
