The Rottnest Foundation has raised $500,440 for the Wadjemup (Rottnest) Aboriginal Burial Ground Conservation Project through a successful Community Spaces Lotterywest Grant.
Thank you also to Professor Len Collard who performed the formal Welcome to Country and Kezia & Cedric Jacobs for their moving speech regarding their involvement and connection to the site and project.
The Rottnest Island Authority will be contributing funds and providing their operational staff to work in partnership with the Rottnest Foundation and other stakeholders to deliver Phase 2.
Lotterywest is unique. It is the only lottery organisation in Australia where money raised from the sale of Lotterywest Games is distributed directly to the WA community through their grants.
Approximately one third of all money raised from the sale of Lotterywest Games is distributed through Lotterywest Grants to nearly 1000 different community organisations as well as the arts, sports, and health sectors.
Rottnest Foundation is fortunate to have Lotterywest come on-board as the first major funding partner for the conservation of this Burial Ground and we encourage other individuals and organisations to contribute to this significant reconciliation project for WA.
