- Rottnest is home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna including around 10,000 quokkas, 112 species of birds, 17 species of reptiles and frogs, 16 species of butterflies and 360 species of fish including many tropical species not found in WA coastal waters.
- Rottnest Island is the largest A Class Reserve in the Indian Ocean.
- The Island is rich in Aboriginal, European, colonial, military, maritime, recreational and social heritage.
- 11 km long x 4.5 km wide, Rottnest is a place to explore, relax and conserve.
- The Island attracts more than 500,000 visitors each year including 300,000 from WA and 140,000 international visitors.
- 70 per cent of the Island’s drinkable water is now produced through desalination.
